Two counts, one sample
- Our count — every listing. The marketplace's public sitemap, read once a day at 11:00 Japan time: 519,401 for sale at the latest count, 916,025 distinct listings on record since 12 AUG 2026 — 44 days recorded.
- The marketplace's own tallies — every maker and model. A second complete count, added 13 AUG 2026: the numbers the marketplace itself prints beside each maker and model, read daily — 520,633 across 120 makers at the last reading (24 SEP 2026), 42 days recorded. The marketplace's arithmetic rather than ours; the two totals can differ slightly (how we measure). Not recorded: 14 AUG 2026 — no model tallies were read that day; model pages' changes span the gap and say so.
- Our sample — the listings we read in full. 72,021 listings read at least once — 7.8% of the listings on record, rounded down. Every price, grade and repair-history figure on this site is of the listings we read, and says so. We read 2,000 listing pages a day, at least two seconds apart.
- Withheld prices. Of the 90,021 readings we've taken, 2,214 (2.5%) said 応談 — price on request. They are counted, never guessed, and left out of every price figure (how we measure).

The gap ledger
No gaps in our count of live listings — every day since 12 AUG 2026 has a completed count. The marketplace's model-by-model tallies missed 14 AUG 2026 — see the two counts above. A missed day is listed here permanently, with its date and — once known — its cause; missed days are never filled in.
Suppressed-completion days
None so far. If part of the marketplace's listing index fails to load on a given day, we record the cars we did see but mark nothing as taken down that day — otherwise a hiccup on their side would read as thousands of cars disappearing. Such days are listed here, separately from gaps (how we measure).
