Japan Car DataEvery car on Japan's largest used-car marketplace, counted daily

About

Japan Car Data counts every used car listed on Japan's largest marketplace, every day at 11:00 Japan time, and keeps the record after listings disappear — the counts, and for the listings we read in full, the asking prices and histories the marketplace deletes.

What it is

Two complete counts and one sample. Our count is the marketplace's public sitemap — every listing, once a day, since 12 August 2026. The marketplace's own per-maker and per-model tallies are read daily too. And we read up to 2,000 listing pages a day in full; every price, grade or repair-history figure on the site is of the listings we read, and says so.

What it is not

Nothing is for sale here. There are no listings, no dealers, no referrals. Asking prices are not sold prices — the marketplace publishes no sold prices, and neither do we. We publish counts and arithmetic, never verdicts.

How it is measured

The method was written and frozen on 13 August 2026, before any figure was computed, and is published in full: how we measure. Every figure names its instrument and its window; missed days are listed permanently on the coverage page. So far: 44 days recorded, 72,021 listings read in full — the first day's setup read more; from day two, up to 2,000 a day.
